The Family Y of Greater Augusta

Ask Me Why- Chris Withers

Chris Withers is the Chairman of the Family YMCA of North Augusta Board of Directors and the Owner of BeStill Outdoor Displays. It wasn't until he joined the North Augusta YMCA's board in 2009 that he truly realized how the Y serves the community.

"I started at what is now the Wilson Family YMCA when I was 16 or 17 years old as a member. In college, I became a camp counselor (he tips his hat to our awesome camp staff!). My Y story now that I'm a part of the Board of Directors and a member is realizing how involved the YMCA is in the community, how we impact the lives of everyone from babies to senior adults."

"We have our hand in so much and its neat to be a part of an organization like this. It's just fun for me to be a part of-I feel like I'm making a difference in people's lives, whether its helping cancer patients get stronger or provide financial assistance for someone who's lost their job recently to enjoy the Y's programs. Even just cutting up and being there for other members at the branch-it's a part of my friendships."

"I occasionally will get a workout in because I love visiting with my friends there! We know each others stories, we're like a second family that gets to do life with each other daily. The Y has become a part of my everyday life, Monday-Friday, and I love doing life with the friends I've made at the Y."
