Day and Overnight Camp

Camp Life is the Best Life

Camp Lakeside offers a variety of camp experiences for children of all ages and abilities. We mean live by the phrase, “Adventure for all.”

Day camp can offer almost all of the benefits of traditional camp—new experiences, skill building, a sense of community and lasting friendships — while allowing campers to return home each afternoon.

Camp I.V.E.Y.

Camp I.V.E.Y. exists to empower high functioning children with developmental disabilities by promoting independence in life-skills, relationships, physical activity and leisure, communication, and self-confidence through recreation and the arts. 2019 dates and registration coming soon!

COUNSELORS IN TRAINING

Our CIT program provides leadership experiences specific to camp counseling. We require CITs to commit for two weeks. During that time, they live in a cabin with campers and counselors. They meet daily with the program director to discuss observations and strategies for leading campers effectively. CITs spend a portion of each day lending leadership in the activity areas. Being a CIT is the best of both worlds….camper and leader.

Cost: $500 for each two-week session. Apply at www.thefamilyy.org. Counselor-In-Training Application

During that activity hour, they receive leadership training and mentor younger campers. LITs reside in cabins with other campers of the same age. They choose and participate in all other land and water activities as a camper. To register, complete camper registration and choose LIT program as an activity choice.

SPENDING MONEY

Campers need no money at camp. We provide a Canteen two times during a one-week session, at no additional charge. Our camp store is open on Opening and Closing days of camp.

FINANCIAL AID

All kids deserve the chance to experience overnight camp. YMCA Camp Lakeside works diligently to raise annual donations for families in need, especially those who would not be able to participate otherwise. To give, or to apply, visit a Family Y branch.

VOLUNTEERING

Camp Lakeside benefits each summer from the generosity of our community members who are nurses, physicians, program experts and educators who volunteer their time to serve our campers. Volunteering offers you a unique opportunity to be a part of something special at Camp Lakeside, and we are pleased to offer discounts and scholarships to campers from the families of our Camp Nurses and other select positions. If you would like to volunteer with us, please contact Morgan Tomberlin, Executive Director, at [email protected]
