Feeling refreshed and revitalized, Priscilla Post can’t contain her love for the Family Y.

Diagnosed with Schizoaffective Disorder as a young adult, Priscilla’s medication caused her to gain weight, which put her weight at over 300 pounds.

In April 2012, Priscilla opted to have gastric bypass surgery to begin her weight-loss journey.
After her surgery, she heard about the Family YMCA through a friend. Her friend invited her to work out at the Marshall Family YMCA. Since that first workout, she’s been able to feel the benefits within and stay motivated.

“The non-scale victories were the biggest motivation for me,” says Priscilla. “I was much more energized and actually wanted to do other activities after I started losing weight.”

Since first undergoing surgery and continuing her workout regimen, she has lost a total of 160 pounds and is continuing to lose weight. She owes her renewed self-confidence and heightened energy level to the Family Y and the cycling/Zumba instructors (her favorite classes!) at the

So what advice does Priscilla have for others who want to lose weight?

“If you set your mind to it, you can do anything,” says Priscilla. “Especially with God’s help!”
