Impact Story- Tony Baughman

When radio personality Tony Baughman was invited to join the Aiken County Family YMCA to talk about the Y to his radio listeners, he had no idea this promotional opportunity would change his life.

At nearly 400 pounds, Tony was feeling the effects of his weight —chronic fatigue, joint pain, elevated blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels. Tony was an overweight child and has struggled with his weight most of his life. When the invitation came to join the Y, to work with a trainer and to share his success with his listeners, he took the challenge seriously. He, and others, are inspired by his progress.

Now one year later, Tony has lost 99 pounds from his highest weight. He works out twice a week with a personal trainer, Tiara, and two to three times more each week on his own. He’s become a familiar face at the Aiken County Family YMCA and has even broadcast his afternoon show on WKSX from the lobby to share his love of the Y with his listeners.

“The Family Y is so much more than a gym for me. I feel genuinely loved and appreciated, by my trainer, the staff and volunteers. It is a comfortable, safe place to take this journey toward wellness and health. I can’t wait to see the new me a year from now!”
