Columbia County YMCAs Merging
Changes are on the horizon for our Marshall Family Y and Steiner Branch Family YMCA. As you may have heard, we are nearing the end of our lease at the Marshall Family YMCA. We have decided not to renew the lease at the current location, and the last day that the Marshall location will be open is October 17. We plan to take this opportunity to merge the Marshall Branch with our Steiner Branch!
Current Marshall Family YMCA members can call us to discuss their membership options or update their home branch to the Steiner Branch. Please let us know by December 31 if you choose to discontinue your membership as your account payment will resume on January 1, 2021. Click here to view all branch locations and amenities.
All Youth Programs will continue with no interruption, i.e.: soccer, lacrosse, baseball, etc. You can register for these programs at any YMCA Branch, on our Programs page or at the Columbia County Library during scheduled hours (TBA).
Stay tuned for news of a new full facility in Columbia County which will be similar to our Wilson Branch on Wheeler Road.
Play and Learn Child Enrichment Program
Play and Learn child enrichment program is now available at all 11 CSRA area branches and is the only one of its kind in the region. This program has been uniquely developed by the Y’s educational experts to provide engaging curriculum to help children develop in the areas of music and movement, literacy, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math), and arts and crafts while parents are utilizing branch facilities for up to two-hour blocks of time. The service is free to all active Y members.
During normal branch operating hours, parents can place their child in Play and Learn for rotating sessions including music and movement, devotionals, storytelling and reading, STEAM and arts and crafts with age appropriate activities for every child. Play and Learn is designed to stimulate minds and bodies, while teaching competence to build autonomy and reinforce positive attitudes and actions.
Curriculum changes every week throughout the year, with the same offerings each day at every branch should a member utilize multiple facilities for consistency. The program is on a voluntary basis for families and religious beliefs are respected and inclusive, should families have specific preferences.
Play and Learn is designed to help children identify and reinforce their individual strengths, grow their abilities with their natural talents and gain confidence to believe in themselves. It’s a fun and engaging environment for children to learn and develop, while providing parents the assurance that their child is being cared for during their workout in a meaningful way.
