Total Access Gym: Inclusive Fitness for All Abilities

At the Y, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to strengthen their spirit, mind and body. The Total Access Gym at the Wilson Family YMCA was created to ensure that people of all abilities have access to welcoming, inclusive fitness opportunities in our community.

The idea began when a member of our Board recognized a significant gap: after completing medically prescribed physical therapy, many people—particularly those with mobility limitations—have limited options for continuing their fitness journey in a supportive environment. The Total Access Gym was designed to help bridge that gap.

Located just off the main fitness floor at the Wilson branch, the space features adapted equipment that can be used by people with and without disabilities. Equipment is thoughtfully designed to be easily adjustable for different heights, strength levels and mobility needs, including for people who use wheelchairs.

At the Y, inclusion means more than access—it means creating spaces where everyone can belong, build strength and connect with others.
