At the Family Y, it is our desire for everyone, regardless of ability, to find a welcoming place to grow and thrive and for our facilities to be safe and accessible. Our Y is one of the first in the country to be intentional about offering programs to meet the recreational and therapeutic needs of those with disabilities. It is our long-term vision to become a model for facilities around the country for adapted programming.
Adapted Aquatics
The Kathryn M. York Adapted Aquatics Center, also known as Katie’s Pool, is located at the Wilson Family Y. It is dedicated to improving the quality of life of individuals with physical and/or developmental challenges. A variety of individualized and group programs are offered in this unique pool. Adapted Wellness
The Total Access Wellness Center at the Wilson Family Y is the only adapted wellness center in the CSRA. Located off the main Wellness Center, it provides adapted fitness equipment for exercisers affected by physical or cognitive disabilities and non-disabled exercisers. Each piece of equipment is easily adjustable to accommodate the height and strength level of those using it, including those exercising from a wheelchair. Adapted Wellness Staff are available by appointment for half-hour individual classes to assist in improving the participant’s independence and quality of life. Call Claudia Collins at 706 922 9664 for information about fees and to schedule an appointment.
Adapted Sports

The non-competitive sports league is designed for anyone aged 5-30 with physical and/or developmental disabilities or delays. Each player is paired with a buddy to help them learn the sport and have fun! Sports offered include soccer, basketball and flag football. Check out current sport offerings here.
